Hygienic preparation of the skin and wound
The person providing care must first wash their hands well. This is achieved by washing in warm water using soap and a brush. After washing, the hands should be dried with sterile gauze and disinfected using diluted alcohol (70% ethanol). Clean the area around the wound in a width of about 5 cm with gauze soaked in diluted alcohol.Rinse the wound with sterile saline solution. With a sterile spatula (knife), apply a layer of balm about 1/2 mm thick onto a four-layer sterile gauze, slightly larger than the wound.
How to apply the balm
Place the prepared gauze on the wound so that the balm layer is in full contact with it, the balm should not contact healthy tissue. To ensure that the gauze remains in close contact with the wound, secure the gauze with a bandage without tightening or with an adhesive strip, whichever is more comfortable.
Maintenance and continued care
Repeat the entire procedure with a fresh amount of balm on sterile gauze every 24 hours.Wound healing begins when the granulation tissue is formed and the wound begins to shrink, so the amount of balm coating should be reduced and limited only to the non-healed part of the wound.Do not apply the balm to the healed part. When the wound heals, i.e. when the new skin is formed, further treatment should be continued with Melop E, so that no new bedsores appear.
